Oru Space — Where Work, Wellness, and Hospitality Meet in London
In this Around the World in 250 Coworking Spaces episode, Pauline visits Oru Space, a coworking concept like no other, located in South London. Housed in a former NHS building, Oru combines workspace, café-restaurant, and wellness facilities under one roof.
The Oru concept Co-founders Vibushian and Paul met while working at a design-led coworking space and wanted to bring that creativity to a local community setting. Their mission was to create a great workplace in a thriving neighborhood, proving that high street coworking could be just as exciting as central London hubs.
What you’ll find inside
- Three floors of activity — Public café-restaurant and wellness studios downstairs, private coworking upstairs.
- No day passes — Membership is central to their model, fostering a more connected community.
- Diverse members — Writers, actors, TV professionals, and freelancers from a wide range of fields.
- Wellness focus — Yoga, barre, and fitness facilities integrated into the building.
- Hospitality-driven food — High-quality, inclusive menu with sustainability in mind—oat milk is standard.
Sustainability and social impact From cork flooring to local sourcing, Oru’s environmental ethos shapes its design choices. Social initiatives include providing five free memberships at any given time to individuals starting a business, going freelance, or seeking new work opportunities. Community projects have included food drives and refugee support.
Looking ahead Oru has already expanded within the building and is planning future sites, continuing to merge work and wellness while strengthening local economies.
