Impact Hub Lisbon — Where Social Innovation Meets Coworking
In this stop on the Around the World in 250 Coworking Spaces series, Pauline visits Impact Hub Lisbon and meets Community Manager Mazut for a tour and a conversation about social entrepreneurship.
From pilot project to global network Impact Hub Lisbon began in 2016 as a small pilot space aimed at hosting social entrepreneurs. Within a year, it expanded to a 500 m² location inside a Lisbon transport company’s building, and in 2021 moved to its current home in downtown Baixa. Today, it is part of the Impact Hub global network — more than 100 spaces worldwide — with a Hub Passport giving members three free days per year at any other Impact Hub.
What you’ll find inside
- A strong social mission — supporting projects that tackle social and environmental issues alongside profit goals.
- A diverse startup community — from eco-friendly car washes to vegan marketplaces and circular economy innovators.
- Flexible workspaces — dedicated startup rooms, community areas, meeting rooms, and a rooftop sky garden.
- Engaging events — community breakfasts, social gatherings, and networking opportunities tied to Lisbon’s entrepreneurial calendar.
- Global connectivity — international collaborations and program exchanges across the Impact Hub network.
Adapting post-COVID The pandemic pushed Impact Hub Lisbon to develop digital memberships and virtual incubation programs for entrepreneurs unable to use the space in person. While the physical space is now buzzing again, hybrid access remains part of their offering.
A culture of belonging Mazut emphasizes that it’s the people who make Impact Hub Lisbon special — members feel like part of the team from day one, with a welcoming atmosphere that encourages connection, collaboration, and shared purpose.
